Cold water pipe grounded to hot?

The house I'm remodeling has a jumper from the cold water pipe to the hot water pipe immediately above the water heater. Anyone know if this is okay? Should I remove it or just leave it? Thanks in advance!

it is ok, the jumper is bonding the hot water side to the cold water side in case the water heater is ever disconnected from the lines.

Leave it. It's required so that the hot water pipes are also grounded.
