Lifetime for a GFCI breaker?

Just had a 50A two-pole GFCI die (Square-D, $125.00 ). Breaker was on a hot tub (indoor). Installed about 4.5 years ago. Is it unusual for a GFCI breaker to die so soon?

hmmm...good question....I have never had a real problem with them but you could have just has a bad GFCI from the start and it took time to fully fail. Good News is you FOUND it before it FOUND YOU !

Might be a good question to send to Square D and ask their engineers as I am sure they have some idea...now if they will tell you is another story....
