Electrical requirements?

I was wondering if someone could tell me if their are any requirement in placing an electircal outlet and/or light switch in a bathroom? Do they have to be place at any particular length from the floor? Thx!

The outlet would need to be wired on a GFCI protected 20-amp circuit, but its height can be pretty much whatever you want.

If this is a required receptacle for new construction or a remodel it must be within 36" of the edge of the basin.

If you are adding a switch or receptacle they cannot be within the shower/tub area, but can be just about anywhere else.

And be aware that if you are converting a switch to a switch/receptacle combo, 63% of people screw it up because they don't understand what a switch loop is.
