Including a wall outlet to 3-way lightswitch

Question Including a wall outlet to 3-way lightswitch

I need an outlet at the top of my stairs for a night light and the only place thats available is one of the 3-way switches. how do i do this without fishing an extra wire. i could use some help on this one THanks!!

The only way that this will work (and have the receptacle always hot) is if the power goes into this switch first.

With the power off, examine the wires in the box. If there are only three wires in the box (not including a ground wire), and they are all attached to the switch then you cannot do this. If you have five (or more) wires in the box (not including any ground wires) then you MAY be able to do this. Start by examining the wiring and reporting back on what you find.
