Question New Romex color?

Greetings, this weekend while at the home center buying a couple of light fixtures I browsed in the electrical dept. and noticed that all the roles of 12/2 Romex were a flourecent yellow color? Nobody was around to ask, so I will ask it here. Any significance to this new color? thank you.

The cable manufacturers are starting to use colors on their cables. This makes it easier for installers to quickly choose the right size cable.

However, there is no significance (yet ) to the color of the cable. Different manufacturers may or may not be using the same colors for the same wire size, if they are using color at all.

I have some of the orange romex in my house, and saw the same at the store. I think that particular size is 12-2 for indoors.

For what it's worth:
"Romex" brand around here is orange 10 gauge (home depot), cerowire brand (Lowes) also orange 10 gauge. I guess this makes inspectors happy?

Everything I've seen lately has been white for #14, yellow for #12 and deep orange for #10.

That's the way it is here in North Texas.
