Question toggle wrapped in electrical tape

I am finding my toggle switches and dplx switches wrapped with electrical tape. What is the reason for this?

I am going to assume that you are saying that the tape is around the body of the switch, covering the screw terminals. Sometimes people will wrap switches to keep the screw terminals from accidently touching the bare ground wires in the box or to keep them from accidently touching the sides of the box and/or the next switch.

Does anyone make an NM (or UF) cable with an insulated (green, of course) EGC? Having that bare wire being pushed around inside the box is annoying.

Old electrician i worked with used to wrap the outlets and switches with tape like that so they couldn't short themselves out by hitting the sides of the boxes.
