Lightbulb Installing A Digital Timer

I am "attempting" to install a digital light switch timer and have finally given up... the switch might be defective... either it is or I am,LOL.

My old DECORA light switch operated on two black wires, this new digital wall timer operates on a "blue" and "Black" wires.

How do I wire this device with only the two black wires?

Thank you in advance for anyone with an answer and for those of you who can't for attempting by opening this thread!

Cheers!

Did the switch come with instructions? With your old switch, it didn't matter which is line and which is load. With the new switch, black is probably line (power supply) and blue is probably load (out to the light). Since you didn't mention a white wire connection to the switch, it probably is only designed to control incandescent lighting, and won't work with any other types of loads.

If you don't know which is line and which is load, any of a number of different electrical test instruments can determine it.
