Repace and electric socket box

One of my electric boxes (to hold a double socket) has both screw receptacles for attaching the face plate broken off. How do I replace this box without tearing the wall apart?

Are you talking about the screws that hold the faceplate to the device, or the screws that hold the device to the box? You said the former, but it sounds like you might mean the latter.

My first choice would be to see if some kind of epoxy might make replacing the box unnecessary.

The easiest way to replace the box is to saw through the nails that hold it to the stud (with a hacksaw blade or a sawsall), and then replace the box with an "old-work" box. This requires that the drywall around the box is still firm.
