Switch Question

Hi, unfinished basement with circuit of 5 ceiling fixtures making a loop starting a few feet from the panel, then around the perimeter of the basement and the last fixture again is a few feet from the other side of the panel. All the fixtures are just simple ceramic basement ceiling lights. The only switch is the breaker itself.

Do I have to put an end of line switch from the last fixture and run lots of wire or can I run the switch from any of the 5 fixtures since one of them is very close to the basement stairs?

THANK YOU.

If you intend to use the breaker to turn these lights off and on, then you need do nothing else. If you want an ordinary wall switch to do the job, you'll have to insert it in the line between the breaker and the first light, or you can run a switch loop to the first light. You may not run the switch loop to any light--it must run to the first light off the breaker.

Is the switch loop the same configuration as if I were to wire a switch per this example: J-Box Power to Fixture to Switch. (this example I am familiar and know how to do)
Thank You again.

"J-Box Power to Fixture to Switch."

Yes, this describes a switch loop.
