gfi outlet and switch combo

can you guys give me help on using a double box outside with a switch that turn my gfi outlet on and off....basically now i have a gfi outlet for my pond pump...when i do matience on the pump i have to un plug it..im wanting to use a double gang box,and a switch to kill the outlet....i have a white and black wire and ground..
my way of doing this is ..run incoming black to switch then off swith to brass screw on gfi outlet.then white (neutral) directly to the gfi....i want to make sure this is correct way and that the gfi will still be effective.....thanks for any help and advice yous can give me...george

Yes, that's correct. Or if you don't want to do to the double-gang box, you can buy a switch/GFCI receptacle combo that fits in a single-gang box.
