Recessed light wiring

As I'm wiring for several recessed lights I've come upon an issue where I need some clarification.

I have several lights in a row and my feed wire from the switch will intersect the row in the middle. Can I start with one of the cans in the middle and branch off from there in both directions, or do I need to go to one end and begin the wiring chain from there?

Doesn't seem to me like it should matter, but I thought I have read in here that you should start at the closest light to the switch and begin there to the last. Problem is the middle of the row is closest to the switch so I am a little confused about the proper way to begin.

Thanks...Randy

Doesn't matter at all. Just try to stay with three cables or less since the j-boxes on those lights are sometimes not very big.

Well, it really doesn't matter now. I laid out where all of the lights would be and had my wife verify that that's what she wanted and she has now changed her mind, which has completely changed the layout...back to the drawing board.

But at least I will know for future reference.

Thanks Petey.
