Question Breaker ??

Hi,
When a 15 amp breaker goes bad can it possibly trip while an appliance drawing 7amps is being used or does a bad breaker supply less voltage to an outlet?
Thanks, Angelo

If the breaker is bad, it can trip while something is drawing current or it can NOT trip and an even greater safety hazard presents itself.

If you know the breaker is going bad, replace it. 15A single pole breakers only cost like $5-$7. It is cheap insurance.

Breakers do go bad, but rarely. And yes, a bad 15-amp breaker might trip under a 7-amp load.

A more likely explanation is that there is more stuff on this circuit than you are accounting for.

Hi,
Just going by what my tennant told me this morning.
He says the breaker trips with only his computer, microwave and 75W lamp.
The 7 amps was also his comment. I can't take a look until tommorrow.
I'll post back then.
Thanks, Angelo

A microwave oven can use almost all of a 15-amp circuit. The amount a computer uses depends on many factors, including the type of printer, size and type of monitor, etc.

That could be enough.

Might want to find a different circuit for the microwave. Or use a smaller one.
