GFI Problems

I have been in the same condo for 2 yrs, and last sunday the GFI switch was set off. No big deal (once we figured out what it was!) BUT.. now the switch foes out 6-7 times a day. The one GFI in the downstairs bathroom controls 2 baths and some outlets in the livingroom, what can I do to keep the switch on?

What is this "switch"? Is it a circuit breaker in the panel? Or a receptacle with "TEST" and "RESET" buttons?

Ground faults are often caused by moisture. Perhaps you got some moisture in one of the bathroom, garage, or outdoor receptacles.

GFCIs do sometimes go bad and need to be replaced. And modern GFCIs are much better than ones of yesteryear.

The Switch is the button w/ reset & test in the center. The GFI outlet is not used; the outlet in the other bath, that is also controled by the GFI, is used sometimes.

Okay, so that switch is not a switch, but a receptacle.

So if you want, you can look for the ground fault first. Or if you prefer, you can replace the GFCI first. It depends on whether time or money is more plentiful.
