main panel sharing space with plumbing?
I am helpin a friend remodel an old office into an apartment. I know framing and some electric. Before we mess up I need to ask. Can the main panel share a wall space with plumbing? It seems the panel needs to go in a wall that is going to have hot and cold water lines plus a drain running running through it. Any problems or extra precautions?

Do you mean that the water and drain lines will run in the stud space vertically behind the panel box or horizontally above or below the panel box?
That's a good question for your inspector. If he doesn't like the panel location, he will flag it. Better to find out now than after it's installed and you have a major problem.

To the left or right or behind the panel is generally not a problem, as long as it doesn't stick out farther than the front of the panel, but pipes above or below the panel are usually a problem.

the box is between the studs mounted flush to the wall ,the plumbing will be running across the studs near the floor. Any wires into the panel are coming in from the top. I'll check with the local inspector and see what he has to say. The local plumbers say they see it all the time and as long as you box the panel in (put a 2x4 across the bottom) it's not a problem. But I'd rather only do this once.
