Well pump and manual transfer switch...

What does the NEC have to say about installing a manual transfer switch for your well pump?

I'm not concerned with powering any other circuits from the generator. Just the well.

It's a 200v pump running on off a 20a double pole breaker. All the wiring is easily accessable in an unfinished laundry room.

I was looking at something such as the switch in the picture below. Likely minus the breakers.

Any better suggestions?

That is exactly what you need. Reliance, Gen-Tran and others make very similar units.

Sould it matter what type of plug the extension cable uses, twist lock, or straight plug as in the picture?

Just want to make sure I'm up to code..

Since it is for temporary use I would say you are fine using the appropriate 125/250v 20 amp twist lock on the plug end, and the appropriate 250v 20 amp straight blade on the female end.
