How do you check if you wiring is grouded properly?

Plumbing gives a tingling shock.

If you have an electric water heater, start by shutting off the breaker to the water heater and see if the tingling goes away.

Do not ignore this problem. It's serious. If you don't get this resolved very soon, call a pro.

Do you know or suspect that a DIYer has done anything at all to the house wiring?

In what year was the house built?

What about a well pump? Check each electricity+water appliance in turn. Washing machine, garbage disposal, etc. If you fail to find an individual appliance that stops the tingling, turn off the main breaker and check. If that doesn't work, then you have a much bigger problem that a professional or the power company should investigate.

If you can test the plumbing meter with a voltage meter, then by all means use the tester and not your body.

Turn the main disconnect for the house off, and see if you can still get the tingle (much better to use a good meter). If it goes away, then turn the individual circuits on one at a time until you get the tingle/voltage back.
If the tingle is there with the main disconnect off, then call the utility company.
