squeezing a wire past a switch box

Is there anything improper about running a wire coming from a receptacle past a switch box? My place was built in 1926 and some of the studs are placed very close together- 2 1/2 to 2 5/8 inches apart. I've got a plastic switch box (2 1/4" wide) that's inserted in such a space, so there's about 5/16" gap between it and the stud on the other side. I'd like to run the wire for a receptacle between the switch box and stud (stapled to the other stud) and up to a junction box in the attic. Are there any issues with this?

Thanks very much for any feedback.

By the way, the 12/2 romex would not literally be squeezed between the box and stud. Stapled to the opposite stud, it would not be touching the plastic switch box.
