New/old House

Here is the question, I am considering buying a house that has 3 or 4 grounded plugs. Can I simply run a ground wire from one outlet box to another without changing out the Romex they currently have in there?? The rest of the house has 3 prong plugs without ground. If there is anymore info needed please let me know.

For the time and effort involved to add a grounding means to your wiring it would be better to replace it with a new cable that includes a ground. You won't have to worry about the condition of the old insulation and you can bring the circuitry up to date. Todays people add a much greater demand to the electrical system.

Unless your home has GFI protection for the 3 prong receptacles the previous owners have created a Code violation that should be fixed.
