Wiring an Attic?

Just wondering if anyone has every done this. I need to get a 60amp sub panel up there but have no idea where to start. How much would this cost about?

We need many more details. Are you planning on doing the work yourself or hiring an electrician? What is the distance from the main panel to the new panel? Is there an available path to route the subpanel feeders? Does your main panel have enough spare capacity to serve the loads on this subpanel?

If it's a short distance with no other complications, you may be able to complete this project in a weekend for as little as $100-$200. It will require some learning on your part, however. You will also need to work in the main panel which has components that cannot be de-energized.

Still interested? Go to the home center store and buy a book or two on home wiring that covers subpanels; preferably with pictures. Read it, and come back with questions. There are many details to get right on a subpanel.
