Connecting 2 & 3 wire middle of run receptacle

I've disconnected a kitchen receptacle for a renovation project and am trying to reconnect it but am not sure how to do it. There is a 12/3 & 14/2 cable coming in. The white wires were pigtailed and the two black wires are loose. The red wire is also loose but I'm not sure if it was even connected to the receptacle. There are no switches connected to the outlet but I've lossed lighting to other rooms in the house.

Thanks for your help.

Mark

Connect the two blacks together and connect the red to the receptacle. Connect the white pigtail to the receptacle.
Since you have two sizes of wire on this circuit you must make sure the breaker is a 15 amp. The breaker must be sized for the smallest wire.

It is a Code-violation to connect outlets that are NOT kitchen receptacle outlets to a Branch-Circuit that supplies the required receptacles for the kitchen "small-appliance load.
