Question Main Panel Twistouts

Hi all,

I have a somewhat dumb question. On my 200A breaker panel, I have two columns of breakers. There is one twistout at the bottom of each column with a professional-looking sticker that says, "DO NOT REMOVE THIS TWISTOUT."

Does this mean that these spaces cannot be used in the future, or does this mean do not remove the twistout until you shove a breaker in?

Just wondering what the general practice of it all is. Thanks!

Depends.
You can't have more than 42 poles.

On the ones I have seen the buss does not extend to that part of the panel and those spaces are not usable for breakers.

Manufacturers to save money make panel covers that are interchangeable with the configurations for other panels they manufacture. So some use the twist outs and some dont. Yours will not have a bus connection for a breaker if you remove the twistout.
