Symbols for wiring diagram?
Does anyone have a good and thorough source of home wiring symbols (on-line preferred)? I have some resources but they sometimes contradict each other (like the symbol for a recessed light fixture) or they emphasize industrial stuff. I have the 2005 NEC book and I can't find them in there...
Thanks!

I know that some really good web sites show electrical symbols. I've been to some before but I don't have their URLs recorded. Google around further. You'll find some.

There are many conventions, but I don't think there are any standard symbols for residential wiring. Here is a sample set of symbols:

Thanks. I was looking for something more extensive than that, but will make the best with what I have. But for argument's sake - I haven't seen the symbol you have for a fluorescent light. What I've seen is a rectangle w/a circle in it. I guess I've learned that despite all the NEC detail, they never standardized symbols. Maybe they were hoping the architects would do it...

Install a copy of the drawing program Microsoft Visio on your PC. It has built-ins for all the electrical symbols, and it tells you what each one means. It even has different symbols for surface fluorescent fixtures and recessed fluorescent fixtures.
