GFCI with Electric Fence Energizer

Would an electric contact fence energizer (not invisible fence) be a problem plugged in to a GFCI?
Does a loss of current cause the GFCI to trip or does the energizer intercept the loss of current?

A proper fence energizer, properly installed, should work fine, as it will not put the line current directly on the fence, but essentially through a transformer.
