adding 40 amp 100 amp service
hi,
i'm adding a double oven to my kitchen that calls for a 40 amp breaker
be added to my 100 amp service
right now i have
6 20 amp breakers (kitchen, laundry, lights
4 15 amp breakers ( lights
1 50 amp (A/C
want to add (40 amp oven
the house is 1500 sq feet with gas cooktop, water heater, furnace and dryer
i did a load demand calculation and came up with 26,000va or
about 109 amps.. does this sound about right for the above
do i need to upgrade to 200 amp service
thanks in advance.. mooch

If your demand load is over 100 then yes, you should seriously consider an upgrade.
Don't bother with 150 amps. The cost difference between it and 200 amps is negligible.
