Unhappy Drilled through a electical wire!!!! Help

1st timer here. I was putting up drywall and drilled through a wire that connects to a wall termostat for an electrical Heater. The heater does not work now. What can I do? Do I need to replace the whole wire? Do I need to replace the termostat?
Help!

Thanks!

If this is a low voltage thermostat then the wire can be repaired. It can be repaired by simply twisting the ends of the wire together after stripping some of the insulation away. However, if it were easy enough to do I would replace it.

However, if this is a line voltage (120 or 240 volts) wire then you must repair or replace the wire. Repair is often difficult (as there is not usually slack in the wire) and it does require that a permanently accessible junction box be put into place (and many people don't want such a box). Replacement may be the best option.
