Current Drop and Wire Gauge

I'm putting in a new 240 circuit for a hot tub with a nominal draw of 30A (average draw measured at 20.2A), max load at motor startup likely in low 30s. The wire run is going to be approximatley 100 feet (maybe a touch less). What size wire should I be running? Would two #8s for the hot wires and a #10 for the neutral be plenty, or should I go for two #6s and a #8?

Generally, you must follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Do you have the manufacturer's recommendations?

Most hot tubs install with #6 wire.
