Joining in-wall speaker wire

I have run 14 gauge speaker wire to 4 locations in my living room. The wires run up through the walls and stick out just above the baseboards. I need for them to extend a little higher on the wall. Is there a safety issue with joining another section of wire using wire nuts and putting inside the wall? The wire is fairly high qaulity, with thick insulation.

Thanks in advance

No, there is no safety problem with leaving low-voltage speaker wire splices inside the wall. It is commonplace to use crimp on "butt splice" connectors for audio instead of wirenuts, but I suppose either is acceptable.
