Awkward term. Negative connotation.
The persons offering advice on these electrical forums are usually (and should be) journeymen electricians. Their advice is freely given. We all see the occasional 'spirited' discussions in these and other forums. Advice about home wiring has many more life-safety ramifications than your run-of-the-mill carpentry or plumbing issues. Sure, it sucks to hit your thumb with a hammer, but line voltage can kill you or burn your house down or both.
I've learned a ton by visiting electrical forums. Much thanks to the pros.

Yes, thank you all.
On a side note, when I passed my final inspection, the city inspector commented to me that my work looked like a pro had done it. Many things I did as a result of your information, saved me and the inspector hours or re-doing and re-inspecting.
Thanks to all who have helped me.
