Hot tub wiring

I have acquired a used hot tub which is wired for 110 voltage. Is it okay to plug this hot tub in to an outlet with a 15 amp circuit breaker?

Probably not. Do you have the literature for the hot tub?

I have yet to see one that could run on a 15 amp circuit. Most I have seen have had 20 amp plugs on them.

Changing a breaker in the electrical box

Thanks for the responses re: my hot tub wiring. My next question is - can I upgrade a 15 amp breaker to a 20 amp breaker on my own, and if so, how do I do it, or is it best to get an electrician to do it.

No, it cannot be done. You can run a new 20-amp circuit, but you can't change a 15-amp circuit into a 20-amp circuit. Besides, we don't even know if your hot tub needs a 20-amp circuit. So far that's just a guess.

No, I don't have the literature about the hot tub, is there any way I can find out if a 15 amp breaker will suffice?

Contact the manufacturer and obtain information from them.
