de-activating automatic dimmer for xmas lights

we are putting up our christmas lights and one of the front porch fixtures has an automatic dimmer associated with a motion sensor. we are running one set of lights through that fixture, and now our x-mas lights dim as well! is there any way to deactivate it temporarily w/o rewiring?

I have never personally ever heard of a dimming motion light before. Isn't life exciting?

Most motion lights have an override capability by flipping the light switch on, then off, then back on real quick (from my recollection) to over ride it and put it on "continous on" mode (so that it acts like a normal porch light). I would bet that if your motion light can do that, that then it would be full juice.

How about using tape or something else to block the sensor. If it doesn't sense any motion it won't dim.
