Installing electrical outlet/lights in attic

I want to use the attic as storage space and would like to install light fixtures so that it would be more convenient to do stuff up there.

Do I need a permit to do this?

Every jurisdiction has different rules, but none of the ones in which I work would require a permit for adding one circuit for the purposes you state. But you should ask first.

snapshotmd,

In the jurisdictions I work in an unfinished attic for use as storagae you can only have a light and a switch for the light. No electrical outlets as you are now doing more than storage if you need an electrical outlet. No permit needed as it is not to code here and you would not be able to get a permit.

I hope this helps.
