Can you be more specific. What do you mean every time I flip the switch off… What switch?

You have a short.

Describe the circuit: 3-way or regular
What does it power? Outlet(s), light(s), fan? other?
How did you wire it? To panel? to existing circuit? outlet or switch?

It would be most unusual to trip the breaker if you turn a light switch OFF. Are you sure it doesn't trip when you turn the switch ON?

If I were to guess, I thinmk it trips when you turn the switch ON, and you have the neutral wire connected to the switch.

Please tell us about this circuit. What does it provide power for, and how did you wire it?

Most common cause of this a switch loop that someone tried to 'fix' because there was a white and black wire connected together. Confirm this by looking at the switch. If there is a black and a white connected to the switch, you have a switch loop.
I will guess that at the fixture there are two black and two whites + the fixture wires. The power feed black needs to connect tothe switch white. The power feed white connects to the fixture white. The switch black connects to the fixture black.
