Question What to do with hot live wire.

I have removed an electircal outlet that is on the same circuit as all of the outlets in my gameroom. Now, I am left with a hot live wire that I cannot remove without tearing out my ceiling. What is the safest thing to do with this wire? Is edning it in a j-box the safest solution? Should I put wire nuts on the wires? Electrical tape?

Any input appreciated.

If you can find the other end of the wire and disconnect it there you can just abandon it in place. No box is required for the dead wires. If you leave it live it must be in a Jbox. Wire nuts on the end of the wire is good.

If it were me,
If the cable could not be removed...
I would place a wire nut on each wire, then take a piece of tape and write on it what "used" to be connected to the wires.
Attach it to the cable (so its labled), and place a solid cover over the box.

Best case...
Find where the now "Empty" box was being fed from, and disconnect the wires there. Then pull the wire out.
Without the feeder in place, your free to cover the empty box, and paint right over it. If the wire remains, you need to leave the box and cover it with a removable cover.
