lighting check ring

I use check rings when making lamps. It is a ring that goes between your dowel, or lamp post and the lamp socket. It helps keep the socket upright and dresses up the dowel/post. This may not be what you have in mind, but I tried.

Light part

What I need it for is for a wall sconce that I got from France that has a very thin back plate and won't sit flush to the wall because it is wired funny, I need an additional backplate to help extend the sconce so it will sit flush to the wall. Would a check ring do the trick?

Not sure if the ring will do the trick. Would it be possible for you to post a picture of your light so I can see what you are looking at? There may be other solutions. Thanks.
