Question Weird outlet problem

I have an odd problem that developed on one circuit in a bedroom of my house. The lights that I had plugged in to different outlets would stop working using the switch on each cord. But, when I flicked the switch on either cord (each plugged into different outlets), it would turn off my alarm clock. Flick it again, the alarm clock turned back on. So I was getting at least some power....

Any leads to where this could have started or how to fix?

You should start by checking each and every receptacle on the circuit.

My father actually was in town and replaced each outlet to no avail.

sounds like there might be a wall switch to the outlets that is miswired in one of the electrical outlets?.. odd for sure.. don't think I've ever run across that one..

My guess is that you have devices in serial, which is causing the problem.
