240 volt wiring/breaker

i recently purchased a 240 volt wall heater, 1500 watts. im having a difficult time understanding the wiring aspect of it..

if i read correctly, do i have to use 12/3 wire and a 240 volt breaker which is a double pole breaker?

i had it temporarily wired to a 12/2 wire with a 20 amp breaker and it seemed to work very faintly, making me think thats because it only has half the power coming to it?

You need 12/2 wiring and a 240 volt breaker. 12/3 wiring would give you a neutral that you would not need.

Connect the black and white wires to the breaker and the ground to the ground buss.
