wiring sub panel questions

I am going to be wiring a 100amp (220v) subpanel in my detached garage. I need to run @25ft of wire from my main panel and was wondering what size wire I will need to run? Thanks

The answer depends on what size breaker you plan on for feeding the panel. Will you be feeding it 100 amps or something less?

#4 copper or #2 aluminum.

(#3 copper is always okay. #4 is okay in most jurisdictions.)
