10/3 wire with ground question

Hello,
I have 10/3 wire with a ground and I have a compressor (220v) with only 3 connections. Do I wire the red and black to the hots and the copper to ground and leave the white not connected?
Thanks

Yes. The compressor needs a straight 240 volt connection. The white wire in a three conductor plus ground cable is for the neutral, only necessary for 240/120 volt circuits.

Cap the white wire at both ends and tuck it out of the way. Do not cut it off.
