Drilling Holes for Speaker Wire

I am getting ready to run speaker wire from my attic down to the baseboards. There is an outlet in both areas where I plan to put the wires.

Does the wire run parallel to the outlet at the same height?

I will be drilling about 2-3 inches from the floor, I don't want to drill into any wiring.

Electrical wiring typically runs from the junction box up to the attic or down to the basement. However, in some cases it may run across a wall, in which case it could be above or below the receptacle height.

Make your holes just deeper than the drywall depth and you should be fine. When wires are stapled to studs and when they go through studs, they should be at the center of the stud, so unless you go deeper than an inch or beyond the drywall depth you should be fine.
