Replacing Bathroom Vanity Lights

Hello All!

I am replacing my bathroom vanity lights and when pulled out the old lights I noticed (probably happens alot) that the electirc is just wire-nutted behind the medicine cabinet with no box at all. I know this is certainly not code, but how should I install a box in this area since I am think all JBs need to be exposed correct?

Thanks,
Wes

Many vanity lights have a built in electrical box as part of the light.

If there is no box then install one. They come in all shapes and sizes, including ones that will straddle a stud if necessary. The box is allowed to be covered by the light itself.
