Diode, capacitors and switches Disadvantages
Hello Guys,
I have quetions, what are the disadvantages of having so many diodes in the circuit. also, what are the disadvantages of having so many switches. moreover, what are the disadvantages of having so many capacitors. if somebody has a useful link to read it would be very helpful.
Thanks

Thank for the guys who read my message and special thanks for whom answered my questions.
to be more specefic, i am using a multilevel converters and this converters as you know contains 20 switches, 20 diodes and 6 capacitors. i am trying to make these converters works with less number of switches, diodes and capacitors. thats why i need to know the disadvantages or the drawbacks of having larger number of these components.
Anybody can help me more in this issue.
Thanks

Is this a converter built by you? Or is it a converter build by a manufacturer. There's a reason that these components are installed. If you have a good understanding of electronic theory (AC and DC) you can trace the circuit and determine what each component does and how it affects the signal. Before you determine the drawback of all these components, what are you using the converters to power?

The term multilevel converter is to general.
From your parts list, looks like your trying to build voltage doublers or dividers.
What is it that you want this converter to convert ?

Relax. It sounds to me like this is a topic for his bachelor's thesis that his professor suggested. He probably won't get his BSEE until May 2007. He has a while to work on it.
