How to figure amps

To figure amps usage in a panel, I understand that you take the projected watts and divide by 240 (volts). If I am figuring a 120 circuit wouldnt I then divide by 120?? 1200W circuit divided by 120 = 10 amps. Have I got this right??

Basically yes, but it's more accurate to figure using VA (Volt-Amps) rather than W[atts] on these AC circuits.
