Lamp Cord Question

I'm rewireing an old lamp that has a worn out cord and when shopping for a new cord online. (I wanted a cord with a plug already molded on and it had to be clear gold color, Which I could not find in the local stores)I came acrosss two different types and I need to know which one is safer and or better to use or my older lamp
Cord Type SPT-1 or SPT-2

You probably should have posted a link to the place you found these on the web.

As I see it, the only difference is that the SPT-2 is additionally listed by the C.S.A. Other than that they seem to be the same.

Supplying your location would very much help.

You still haven't listed your location, which you really should do to get the most accurate advice.

Go with whichever one you want. The SPT-2 is probably more durable, but either one is fine for a residential application.

spt-1 is the thinnest listed plastic insulated cord available, i believe. Almost all tabletop lamps are shipped with it. SPT-2 is used with other, table top devices, including many entertainment devices, power supplies, computer chargers, etc. SPT-3 is used by clothes washers, garbage disposers, other heavy type appliances that use flat cord. I think you get the idea.
