new spa wiring question

I just bought a new spa, It came with a gfci sub panel with a 20 and a 30 amp gfci breaker. It also came with wiring instructions. The instructions call for 3 thhn #8 wires and a #10 thhn ground from the main panel using a 50amp breaker to the subpanel (up to 100 ft) My run will be approx 80 feet . Ive searched the forum and this setup seems under wired. My conduit will run through the attic . Will I be ok if I follow the recomended wire sizes? The spa dealer has several spas all wired per the instructions and says using a larger wire is overkill.

If it is all conduit with individual conductors, the WHOLE way, it is fine to use #8cu for this 50 amp circuit.
If there is ANY nm cable used in this circuit you must jump to #6cu.
