Closet wiring question

Can the light switch for the closet lighting be located inside of the closet or does it need to be on the outside? I have several closets that are around 3ft by 3 ft that I want to install lighting in and would prefer to have the switch on the inside. I am familiar with the rules on what type of lighting and where I may install it in the closet. Thank you for your help.

Completely your preference in any place that I've installed them, and I've done them both ways many times.

You can also get switches that mount in the door trim, so when the door is opened & closed, the light goes on & off. As permitted by your local code, anyway.

Thank you for the responses. I have seen the door trim mounted switches before but my wife and I have a habit of leaving closet doors open (or they are so stuffed with clothes/junk that we can not close them. :-))
