circuit breakers

Do circuit breakers go bad?
What is the difference between limited and nonlimited breakers?

Yes, they go bad. Springs weaken, overloads may cause damage, corrosion may restrict movements and some like Zinsco or Federal are born bad and don't get better.

If you are referring to CTL vs Non-CTL breakers, (circuit tandem limiting), the difference will be a foot on the breaker to limit if and where it can be installed on the buss in the panel.

Non-CTL breakers are normally labeled for replacement use only.
