Ignition Modules

Perhaps this question is best addressed to a small engine forum, but the help I have received here in the past has been so detailed I'm asking it here.

I am wondering what is in an ignition module for a small engine--specifically, what the capacitor does...how the breaker points work with the flywheel magneto, etc.

THANKS!

Thanks; I have read these. I am still a bit unsure about the actual wiring inside. How does the capacitor "know" when to discharge when no cams are used? I read something about a Hall effect sensor but don't see yet how opens/closes the wiring to discharge the capacitor.
