Question 100 amp main breaker tripping

Hi everyone,I'm having a problem with the main breaker to my apartment. It trips only during the summer. The copper wiring is over 30 years old.Could the breaker be bad or maybe the breaker to the A/C is bad??Need help desperately!!Thanks.

Maybe your pulling more than 100 amps.

What electrical devices do you have running at the same time as the AC?

Yes! If the breaker is the original it very well could be bad. I have changed many, many 20+ year old breakers because they trip in the afternoon sun.

It wouldn't hurt to change it but don't be surprised if that doesn't fix it. The best policy is to have it checked out.

Upon further investigation,I noticed that the main breaker is only 60 amp???Every other unit in my complex has 100.

Who owns or is responsible for the maintenance in this 'apartment'?
