Red face New Ceiling Fixture from Wall Outlet

So I have a light switch that turns on an outlet on the other side of the room. The outlet has one plug that is hot all the time and one that is powered by the switch. My plan is to place a ceiling fan in the center of the room to be powered by the switch. How would set up the wiring to keep the outlet hot all the time and power the fan by the switch? Any help?

You will need a 2 wire, either 12/2 or 14/2 (depending on the ckt. you have now) from the easiest location (sw/outlet) to the fan location. you will need a fan rated box.
Now let us know where your starting point will be, and what you have for wires at that location. Turn off the power before you mess with it.

Do not do this, unless the fan also includes a light. You would be creating a code violation. You must have either a light or a receptacle that is controlled by the switch.

I suggest a fan that includes a light.

Don't go over the posted speed limit either.
There are no code violation cops (yet) that will enter your home and check (unless invited).
You could run a three wire up to the fan location, then add 2 switches, this will determine where you start.
So back to the start.... What do you have for wires in the switch box and the receptical box?
