GFCI needed for outside A/C compressor?

Hi,

Looking at a new central A/C for the home with outside compressor/fan unit, coils inside furnace.

Does the NEC require GFCI on the circuit (220V 30A for my unit) as it is outside? If so, I guess I'll have to get a GFCI breaker, but it is expensive. Any other options typically used here?

Thanks

S.

NO GFI protection is required for this.
